About Me
Hi, I’m Mariia Oriekhova – a 24-year-old illustrator from Ukraine.
Art has been my greatest love since childhood. My mom is an artist, and I grew up watching her create beautiful drawings, wishing I could do the same. Thanks to her, I developed a deep love for illustration.
For many years, drawing was simply a hobby. While studying English language and literature at university, I realized that I wanted to turn my passion into a profession. That’s when I discovered digital art. I started with portrait illustrations, but little by little, I found myself drawn to a more playful, childlike style – and eventually to the magical world of children’s books.
Children’s illustration felt like the perfect way to combine my two greatest passions – books and art.
I’ve always adored picture books – how illustrations often speak even louder than the words, how they spark imagination and emotion. I also have a deep love for children, and I create my art for them – and for the little girl I once was, who would’ve been so happy to see these illustrations. I’m inspired by nature, people, and animals. In my free time, I love drawing in my sketchbook using mixed media.
I live with my boyfriend, two dogs, and two cats in our cozy home.
We love growing decorative plants in our small garden.
One of my biggest dreams is to travel, to see beautiful landscapes and cities, and to learn from other cultures. I believe in kindness, honesty, and openness – and I strive to reflect these values in both my art and how I work with clients.
